We are pleased to introduce our new online support group. The sessions will provide a welcoming space to learn, share experiences, and connect with others affected by bladder cancer. Each session will begin with a short 30-minute talk from guest speakers.
Monday 11 May, 6-7.30pm
Our first session focused on understanding staging and grading – what these terms mean and how they affect treatment decisions, led by Paula Allchorne – Urology Lead Nurse at Barts NHS Trust.
Participants had the opportunity to join one of three smaller support sessions, where they were able to speak more openly with others facing similar experiences:
We always aim to provide a safe environment where people can ask questions, gain reliable information and connect with others who understand.
The groups are held online, making it easy to join from home, whether the participant wants to listen, ask questions, or share experience.

An event run in response to requests for information from bladder cancer patients - it was aimed at people who had undergone a cystectomy in the last two years and were living with a urostomy.
The session was led by the ABC UK Patient Support team together with a stoma nurse, and also bladder cancer patients of both genders living with a urostomy.
The focus was to give useful information such as how to best care for a stoma and pouch management as well as practical tips for everyday life. Our two patient representatives shared their experiences of how to live well with a urostomy and gave information on everyday living such as clothing, sport and exercise, travel and returning to work.
There will be a facility to ask questions which will be put to our speakers at the end of the session and also to contact ABC UK afterwards. It will also be an opportunity to hear about the work of Action Bladder Cancer UK and the support we can offer for those with bladder cancer.
